The 5 Game of Thrones Onscreen Mistakes Only Eagle-Eyed Fans Notice
Everyone remembers the Game of Thrones scene that featured a Starbucks coffee cup.
But that wasn't the only continuity error during the series – some were only spotted by eagle-eyed fans and didn't get quite as much meme attention.
Bran Election Scene
Electing Bran the Broken as the new King of the Seven Kingdoms was an odd choice. But it wasn't the strangest thing that happened in that scene. Because not one but two modern day water bottles made an appearance on-screen. The first was clearly visible underneath Samwell Tarly's (John Bradley) chair. And the second was underneath Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham). So, if you thought the aforementioned coffee cup incident had led to a tightening of the continuity and editing processes – think again.
King's Landing Before and After
King's Landing featured heavily in the show and the location used was in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Throughout the first 7 seasons, viewers saw many different angles of the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, and it was a verdant sight. Until season 8, when it became somewhat flat and desert-like. No explanation. No mention of it in the dialogue. It just looked different all of a sudden. And that didn't go unnoticed.
Daenerys' Hair
Dany had a pretty full-on character arc during the series as she grew into an influential figure in the story of Westeros. Now, one of her defining characteristics was her hair. After falling in love with Dothraki Khal Drogo, Daenerys Targaryen kept her hair long and added additional braids as evidence of her success in battle. As such, there were plenty of Dany wigs on set. And episode 1 of the final series featured a wig error that was picked up by some fans. When she enters Winterfell with Jon Snow, the braid pattern on her hair suddenly changes in the same scene.
Season 8 Opening Credits Mistake
Game of Thrones Should Thank Fans For Its Most Iconic Casting
Another thing that changed in season 8 was the opening credits. Prior to this, they had featured characters alongside sigils that identified their house. Or at least, that was the plan. But there were a few noticeable errors such as when Sansa Stark was identified as a Targaryen and Daenerys Targaryen was shown as a Lannister.
The Battle of the Bastards
The Battle of the Bastards in season 6 saw Jon Snow take on Ramsay Bolton in an epic fight. It was an incredibly popular scene that was fantastically shot and earned seven Emmys – but it wasn't without fault. As Jon Snow mounted his horse to prepare for battle, his sword literally bent. Now, we all know Kit Harington wasn't actually wielding a proper sword – but seeing it in all its rubbery realness did slightly take the edge of this huge battle scene.
