The new iteration of our favorite sitcom is joined by the acclaimed showrunner.

Rumors about its potential revival had circulated for a long time, ending with the reveal of the reboot being in development in September 2023 and, to fans’ relief, the original show’s creator, Greg Daniels, was planning to return to the project as a showrunner.
Moreover, it has been recently announced that the new Office show will feature Michael Koman as a co-creator, which enhances the chances of the reboot being much more well-built and filled with witty humor. The point here is Koman is mostly famous for his co-creation of Nathan for You, directed and starred by the comedian Nathan Fielder.

Nathan for You and The Office are similar in the sense of their genre, which is a docu-reality comedy, therefore, Koman’s experience in it can be extremely useful in developing Daniels’ new iteration of his massively popular mockumentary series.
Regarding the plot of The Office reboot, Daniels previously denied it would be a simple reboot of the same story with different actors, saying they “ended that story beautifully”.

Presumably, it will be set in the same universe, but follow a completely new story with new characters, maybe with only small appearances of the original’s fan-favorite ones.
As for the Internet’s opinion of the initial necessity of such a revival, it seems that people are really starving for the well-made comedy shows, as today’s TV is mostly abandoning them.
“Yep we need more sitcoms. Sadly TV networks nowadays only seem to care about hospital dramas and police procedurals,” admits Redditor @Corrupted-OS.
At the same time, some fans went full “No God please no” mode, expressing their resentment to the idea of bringing back the show, which was already finished, and blaming its creators for mercantilism.
While all these opinions are to some extent reasonable, it’s really too late to make conclusions as the new version of The Office is only at the stage of writing, which makes us passionately wait for further updates, including the cast revealing.
