It's really challenging to find healthy relationships in Euphoria, but even if there were ones, Rue and Jules are simply not it.

The relationship between Rue and Jules is one of the main storylines in both seasons of Euphoria, but in the end, even the most dedicated shippers can realize that things are simply not working out for the two for so many reasons.

However, many people still believe that Rue and Jules had true love — but just as many people argue that their relationship was anything but that.

According to one Reddit fan theory, Rue and Jules were about limerence than love. They were not really able to communicate, manipulated each other, and were too into mind games and power play for their relationship to be called love.

The fan theory distinguished limerence from love by noting that the latter is about accepting the lover's flaws, giving affection and being able to control one's feelings, while limerence is more about obsession, mind games and idolizing.

However, some fans wanted to clarify things a bit, saying that there was love but the couple was not able to sustain it.

"I definitely believe that Rue and Jules loved/love each other, but they're way too individually messed up at this point in time to build any kind of stable relationship," Redditor Individual_Syrup_848 argued.

Other people admitted that Rue might have been right in her own definition of their relationship in the season 2 finale, when she said that "she'd like to think of Jules as her first love, but she was too high for most of it to tell."

After all, it's worth remembering that Rue was problematic due to her drug addiction, and Jules was too keen on receiving love from Rue than being affectionate herself. Still, Jules did somewhat save Rue's life by snitching to her mother about her relapse. Nevertheless, fans are simply not able to disagree with Rue's angry monologue for Jules when she found out that Jules told her mother everything.

Euphoria has been greenlit for season 3, but the premiere date is yet to be announced.
