You've likely already heard that the cast of Yellowstone was listed as attendees at PaleyFest… And none of them showed up either on the Yellowstone panel or even on the red carpet — instead, the show sent its recurring actors.

This came as a huge surprise for both the fans and the press considering no one was alerted that the cast wouldn't make it there.

For Yellowstone, it was its first panel on PaleyFest in a prime-time spot, and many people bought their tickets specifically to see the YS cast. This is a terrible look for the show's creator Taylor Sheridan and the show itself.

But it's even worse news for the fans: the Yellowstone cast's absence from PaleyFest reveals just how deep is its internal conflict that caused the cast to skip the fest in the first place.

It's no secret that Yellowstone's facing massive issues. Reportedly, Kevin Costner has a conflict with production as he's currently busy with his own project and demands that filming of Yellowstone is scheduled when it suits him.

Costner can only participate a few days a week, which is terrible for production.

On the opposing side is, admittedly, Sheridan. He doesn't want to film Yellowstone on such an inconvenient schedule, which is understandable.

But Sheridan also has a bunch of other shows he's working on, so in this situation, he's kind of in the same boat as Costner (though they're paddling in opposite directions).

The thing is, this conflict doesn't directly affect either of them: both Sheridan and Costner are at the point in their careers where they can do as they please, and both of them have much stuff to work on apart from Yellowstone.

But this whole situation affects everyone else involved: the production and filming teams, the cast actors, and, of course, the fans.

Right now, there's no update on part 2 of Yellowstone season 5. Reportedly, they haven't started filming it yet — and they don't even have the starting date yet!

This entire situation is already messy — both the season 5 delay and the PaleyFest fiasco. However, it can get ugly if the conflict is not resolved soon: the entire show might just get canceled.

The solution appears simple: by off-screen killing John Dutton, Kevin Costner's character, the show can finally move on since there will be no need to film with Costner.

Fans think this way, too.

"This is just embarrassing and the height of unprofessionalism. There is no good excuse for this. Clearly, there is a problem that is holding up the show. Pretending it doesn't exist doesn't make it go away. If it's that Costner doesn't want to do it, and wants to do it in his own time, KILL HIM OFF. Jesus, it's not brain surgery," said Reddit user MontanaJoev.

At this point, it seems like the only solution: if Sheridan doesn't do it and the conflict remains as it is, Yellowstone's as good as dead, unfortunately, and we might never even see season 5.
