It's not like you find out you have a grandchild every day.

Blue Bloods is one of the most popular police procedurals we have on television today. The show has been on the air for more than a decade and has a huge fandom.

There have been 13 seasons of the show so far, with season 14 in the works. And during that time, there have been many surprising storylines that have left fans in stunned silence. But apparently the most shocking thing happened in season 10 of the show.

The season’s finale made a huge reveal that no one was expecting. The writers introduced fans to... another member of the Reagan family! In the episode titled Family Secrets, Frank's friend Paula revealed that her child was actually Joe Reagan's son.

Needless to say, this shook things up a bit. Well, no wonder why. You can always predict someone being added up to the family while getting married or having a child. But Joe Hill’s introduction was something out of the blue.

Hill was previously known in the show as an NYPD detective. Which means he was following in his family's footsteps without even realizing it. As it turned out, him being part of the Reagan clan was a good plot twist.

“I find the character of Joe interesting because his whole story is nature vs nurture. How much of who he is hard coded into him as a Reagan and how much of it is a result of outside influences. Did he become a cop because of fate or for some other reason? By blood, he's a Reagan and can give as good as he gets, but he's also an outsider,” Redditor JudyLyonz said.

Joe became a prominent character throughout season 11. But after that he took an undercover role that made him actually leave the show. But despite that, his connection to the Reagan family is what will last forever.
