The audacity that some fans have is truly unbelievable.

It's completely understandable when a celebrity in 2023 doesn't have a social media account. While it is the easiest way to continue interacting with fans around the world, it is also the easiest way for people to harass others while hiding under the anonymity of it.

Choosing to stay away from the public eye of the internet is a decision many actors make in order to maintain their mental health and save themselves some time. Sometimes, however, not having an Instagram or X (formerly known as Twitter) is not enough to avoid the most bizarre fan interactions.

The Big Bang Theory star Simon Helberg, who portrayed Howard Wolowitz on the show, doesn't have an official social media presence, but he still manages to have the worst experiences meeting fans. While the majority are obviously very sweet, grateful, and polite, it's the rude ones that stand out and make an impression.

The actor shared one of his most memorable stories on a podcast with his former The Big Bang Theory co-star Mayim Bialik:

“Famously, the introduction that people tend to make to me, particularly when the show was on, they would come up and they would say, ‘Listen, I hate your show, but…’ <...> So a guy came up to me, and he goes, ‘I hate your show. I can’t stand it, but my roommate loves it, so it’s on in the background. Anyway, I read about your negotiations. You wanna buy me a cup of coffee?’”

By "negotiations," the person mentioned in the story was probably referring to the contractual agreements that were renewed every year for the cast of The Big Bang Theory, allowing them to become one of the highest-paid casts in the industry at the time.

Not to mention how rude it is to start the conversation by hating on something the person in front of you has worked on for years, assuming someone is willing to buy you something out of nowhere is borderline insane. Even worse, the actor shared that these conversations happen to him all the time.

So if you're lucky enough to run into a celebrity out and about, make sure you have something nice to say, or just don't say anything at all.
