TBBT Spinoff Disheartening Update Is Actually a Blessing in Disguise
There still might be a reason for the sitcom fans to have enough patience.
The Big Bang Theory has been long gone, but its fans may get a big gift from the franchise’s creators in the following years — in case the former ones are patient enough.
Though the sitcom’s co-creator Chuck Lorre is currently keeping himself busy with Young Sheldon ’s spinoff titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and the recent update regarding The Big Bang Theory’s potential spinoff seems even more frustrating than lack of any updates at all, things may not be that bad anyway.
In fact, Lorre’s revelations may be seen as a positive perspective and not something ominous — in a way.
Talking about the upcoming release of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Lorre spilled some tea about another comedy series set in the same universe and having a potential connection to The Big Bang Theory instead of its prequel Young Sheldon.
However, he quickly specified that the spinoff is in the “prenatal” stage and constantly in the works, so there’s no saying about any possible release date or even plot.
Still, giving the mysterious show some time to develop, even if at some point it means waiting until Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage ends sometime in 2025, is actually a good perspective to consider.
Essentially, it will leave the creators more time and space for elaborating the idea from scratch without having to keep Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage on track at the same time.
Additionally, airing two shows simultaneously would become a major problem for Young Sheldon’s future spinoff since another sitcom directly related to The Big Bang Theory’s storyline would garner way more viewers, thus depriving Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage of all the attention it’s supposed to get.
Whatever Chuck Lorre’s plans for The Big Bang Theory’s spinoff are, the franchise fans have no real reasons to complain now that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is just around the corner. The show is set to debut on CBS on October 17.
