Not a single story will be left unfinished.

Summary:

  • S.W.A.T. is a CBS procedural action drama that has been on the air since 2017.
  • The show is set to release its 7th and final season on February 16, 2024.
  • Showrunner Andrew Dettmann promises that the finale will be equally satisfying for all the characters.

Even though it has been some time since the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes ended, the television industry is still feeling the effects on shows that have just begun to return. Just about every new season of a network-produced show is returning with either a shortened or final season.

Though the financial hit the studios took during the strikes has definitely affected the 2024 schedule, there is a notion floating around that the producers used it as an opportunity to cancel the shows that were reaching their endpoints anyway.

CBS, for example, will be saying goodbye to hits like Blue Bloods, Young Sheldon and S.W.A.T. to make room for more original content. While saying goodbye to so many beloved characters at once will not be easy, the showrunners will do everything they can to give everyone a proper sendoff.

Will There Be S.W.A.T. Season 8?

All good things must come to an end, and for the action drama S.W.A.T., that time is closer than you might think. Even though the fans put up a good fight for the show to be renewed one last time, the 13 episodes of season 7, which begin airing Friday, February 16 on CBS, will be the last viewers see of their favorite team. But no need to panic.

As showrunner Andrew Dettmann says, the final season will be a celebration of the characters' stories and the world the show has created. Nobody will end up unhappy. He opened up about the S.W.A.T. finale in an interview with TVLine:

“I wanted to give everybody their proper sort of “curtain call,” so the episodes that we have for them are really focused on their characters, the evolution of their storylines. I’m really excited about the episodes that we have for them. The idea for the final 13 was that, if this was the end for us, nobody feels like they were underserved,” Dettmann said.

Whether you want to see more of Street and Luca, who will be recurring this season, or the marital bliss of Hondo and Nichelle, who got married off-camera and have a whole new chapter of their lives to explore, you will not be disappointed.

Make sure to tune in to CBS on Friday, February 16, to not miss the premiere of the 7th and final season of S.W.A.T. Keep an eye out to be the first one to learn about all the important news and behind-the-camera updates on the show.
