SVU Is Breaking All Rules Of Reality For This Character, And Fans Are Confused
Does this mean we'll see more of Amanda Rollins in the future?
There are no hard and fast rules in television. As long as what you're showing is ethically correct and meets the audience's expectations, as a showrunner, you can pretty much come up with any idea you want to see come to life.
People are used to the unthinkable happening on TV to fit the narrative and usually do not care too much about it.
For Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fans are apparently different, as they're still confused about Amanda Rollins being pushed to become a profiler.
As many people were excited to see Rollins back, the reactions to her new arc are mixed, to say the least. While many are happy to see her back no matter what position she takes, others find it too unbelievable to think of her as a profiler.
The main reason they bring up is her lack of qualifications, which is true but has never been an obstacle for any show production.
What really feels like a problem is that the audience just doesn't see her character fitting the role. Having seen Rollins as a detective, the role she was incredible at, it's hard for the audience to imagine the change.
If this is a smart way to reintroduce the character to the show, it could work overtime. But as a one-off, it doesn't look too convincing.
Since there have been no announcements of Amanda Rollins returning to SVU as a recurring character, viewers are left to believe that this was just a sudden change of heart.
Although characters change and grow all the time, each in their own way, some things just don't feel as natural as others. Whether or not viewers will have more time to adjust to the change in season 25, we will have to wait and see.
The 25th season of the series was confirmed back in April, so now it's a waiting game for the crew and cast to start production and filming.
