Why ruin something that was perfectly fine in the beginning?

Although there are still many very loyal Supernatural fans out there who are willing to support anything related to the show, they all have an understanding of the show's declining quality over the last few seasons.

The years that have passed since the end of the show have allowed even the most hardcore Winchester Brothers fans to see all of the show's flaws through rewatches and accept the fact that the showrunners couldn't keep the original essence.

Now that we have The Winchesters prequel with an undecided fate for season 2 and the possibility of other spin-offs, fans are interested in breaking down the original show episode by episode to find out exactly where things went wrong.

Of course, the majority of the fanbase connects the changes in writing quality to the departure of original showrunner Eric Kripke after season 5.

Kripke was sure that Sera Gamble, who stepped in to replace him, would give the show a breath of fresh air, but not everyone seemed to like the difference. While the atmosphere certainly changed, it didn't feel like a change for the better.

With fewer scary episodes, viewers also noticed a gradual decline in the quality of props, special effects, and even fight choreography. The show, which had become accustomed to constant suspense for the past five years, suddenly became a drama about angels and demons.

Some viewers also note the difference between seasons 1 and 2 and the rest of the series because the first two were shot on actual film, while after that production turned to digital.

The reason for this may have been the cost of production, but many fans have noticed that with film, the show lost its grainy charm that added to the atmosphere. Many admit to missing the feeling of watching an old thriller instead of a regular series.

Whether you would agree or not, there’s nothing that can be done to rewrite Supernatural, so the only thing that’s left is hope that if there will be a reboot, another spin-off, or some sort of a comeback, writers would take the fanbase’s opinion into consideration.

However, while there is no official news about such, you can go back to the original show and enjoy the horror of early seasons by streaming Supernatural on Netflix or MAX.
