Beaver is known and loved by the Supernatural fandom as Bobby Singer, Sam and Dean's father figure.

It turns out that Jim Beaver, Supernatural 's Bobby and The Boys ' Defense Secretary Robert Singer, battled an aggressive type of cancer five years ago.

In a Facebook statement, Beaver revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the fall of 2018 and had to undergo a six-month course of hormones before a robotic surgery could be performed.

In August 2019, between seasons 14 and 15 of Supernatural, Beaver underwent his surgery, which "went exceptionally well."

"It's been 3 ½ years since the surgery and I am cancer free. There was no sign of spreading immediately after the surgery, and none since. I have been in full health since recovering from the operation, and my doctor recently told me that I am in astonishingly good health for a man in my age group," Beaver said, adding that he is "deeply blessed."

He went on to urge everyone to take care of their health, saying that he was able to prevent tragedy by catching the signs of aggressive cancer early by getting screened at least once a year.

Beaver advised his male followers to follow suit, sprinkling his lengthy statement with a Supernatural reference:

"Don't be an idjit. Get the digit," the actor said.

After Beaver shared the news on social media on World Cancer Day, his relieved fans flocked to the threads to celebrate the actor's cancer-free status and spread awareness. Even Star Wars icon Mark Hamill stopped by to celebrate the "wonderful news.

Beaver is currently part of Supernatural creator Eric Kripke's other bombshell project, The Boys, where he portrays Secretary of Defense Robert Singer. At this point, Supernatural fans are jokingly calling The Boys a Supernatural reunion, as Beaver is joining Jensen Ackles ( Supernatural's Dean Winchester) in the dark superhero series.
