Supernatural has said goodbye to so many characters during its 15-season run, and there are few things that spark as much fan discussion or controversy as opinions over character deaths.

It feels like every time a character dies, there are varying opinions that emerge regarding their fate. Reddit has played host to a lively debate among Supernatural fans regarding which deaths they felt were the most unfair. Either because the person died far too soon, or not soon enough…

Regarding whom died too soon, there is no clear winner, for want of a better term according to the fans. But the ones that fans vote for the most are, Agent Hendrickson, Eve, Gabriel, and Charlie.

Agent Hendrickson

Fans are lamenting the loss of this brilliant character so soon, with many feeling that his being trained as a hunter and working alongside Sam and Dean would have given so much more depth and excitement to the show. The storylines could have been far more intricate, especially during the times when Sam and Dean are at odds with one another.

Eve

This is a common theme that comes up on Reddit again and again. That Eve should have been in the show far longer and had real potential to be a big bad villain. Fans feel her untimely death came far too soon, and they wanted to see more of her.

Gabriel

This death is mourned by fans for two reasons: being too soon and too senseless. They wanted a further exploration of Gabriel's relationships with the other angels, wanted him to have more screen time, and really wanted to see his full potential.

Charlie

One of the most popular recurring characters, fans were furious when she was not only killed far too quickly, but she also had to endure the added insult of being killed off-screen. They believe she deserved better and that her character should have become more of a regular within the series.

As for who fans feel died too late, there are two names that bear this crown above all others: Metatron and Mary Winchester.

It is likely Metatron will not come as a surprise to many readers. He seemed to just always be there, always be annoying, and was such a relentless villain despite not being terribly interesting. As far as big baddies go in the Supernatural world, Metatron's main crime according to fans was his lack of depth which just made him tedious to endure.

Mary Winchester may sound like a harsh choice, but fans have put forward some very strong arguments for her. The most solid complaint is that the writing for the character seemed to be all over the place and not in line with the established canon.

Fans felt confused and struggled to get on board with Mary as a result. Another character that felt tedious and annoying, that fans had to tolerate, rather than enjoy.
