This might be the only villain Superman can not handle.

With season 3 of Superman & Lois airing on March 14, 2023 on CW fans were all waiting to see what's going to happen with their favorite couple next, especially after the season 2 finale which once and for all separated the two worlds.

It is expected for Superman, the most powerful superhero on Earth, to fight the most dangerous villains, however, the one enemy producers have chosen for Clark Kent to face this time might be the hardest one to beat.

In episode 2 Uncontrollable Forces viewers alongside Superman himself overhear the conversation Lois has with Tara Reagen, where she admits to being diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer.

Of course, fans' reaction was predictably sad, with everyone feeling absolutely devastated by the thought of losing Lois in this battle.

"This episode was heartbreaking. Lois has never faced anything like this in any other medium I've seen," Redditor Supermanfan1973 said with many others agreeing.

Although the audience loves seeing their favorites deal with hardships of life, both mundane and supernatural, this one topic seems to hit too close to home for too many people.

When asked by KryptonSite about whether it was a challenging decision to introduce such a storyline to the plot, showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher both agreed that it was a hard but interesting choice to make.

As Superman & Lois was always a family-focused show, it was important to keep this dynamic and introduce it to a new kind of trouble, the one they haven't explored yet.

As creators reassured worried fans, this twist won't change the direction of the show and make it darker but instead will bring balance and remind the audience about the more fragile parts of Clark Kent.

Brace yourself and tune in on The CW on Tuesdays to see whether this season's main villain would be defeated, or Clark Kent would suffer his greatest loss.
