Superman & Lois Is Renewed, But There’s A Catch
Not everyone is going to come back.
With so many shows being canceled on The CW this year, it's a relief for fans to see their favorite show being renewed for another season.
However, fans should be cautious while celebrating what seems to be a success: season 4 will bring some changes that viewers may not like as much.
Although the show has been given another season, it will be shorter than ever before. While seasons 1 and 2 had 15 episodes each, season 3 was cut to 13 episodes, and season 4 will have only 10. Worse, the changes don't stop there.
According to Deadline, one of the conditions for picking up the show for another season was budget cuts. These cuts will not only affect the number of episodes, but also the cast.
It's unlikely that any of the 12 regular cast members will be affected (considering their importance to the plot), but you may not see some of the supporting cast return.
All in all, the decision to continue the show is still something to celebrate, as it will be the only one to continue the legacy of The Arrowverse on The CW next season.
It was hard enough to negotiate the return of Superman & Lois to the small screen, as the process took two months, and one of the shows, Gotham Knights, was dropped in the end.
The changes were clearly necessary to combat Nexstar's insistence on getting rid of everything The CW had been known for. After it was announced last summer that 75% of The CW's stock had been purchased by the media giant, viewers didn't know what to make of it, but today their intention to reboot the entire network seems clearer than ever.
Although the comeback of Superman & Lois is now officially confirmed, it is still too early to talk about a release date. Keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates to catch any surprises that season 4 may bring.
