Superman & Lois Fans, Take A Hint: Time To Give Up On Season 4 Renewal
According to the new bosses, The CW shows should be cheaper but more profitable.
The superhero show Superman & Lois became a huge hit for The CW channel immediately after its release. After premiering in 2021, the series broke first-week ratings records and became the most successful show on the channel.
Now, however, the show is in serious jeopardy, and there is every reason to believe that fans may not see the fourth season.
One of the most watched shows on The CW was targeted when Nexstar Media Group bought the channel. With the transition of the network into new hands, the policy changed to focus on making more profit at less cost.
According to Deadline, Nexstar's main goal is "lower-cost scripted programming in order to make the network profitable."
Superman & Lois is the second most watched show on The CW, with Walker taking the first place.
However, even the highest-rated show on the network did not escape the cruel fate – it was renewed for a new season, although the number of episodes was reduced to 13. Its spinoff, Walker: Independence, was canceled after one season.
Fans of the series are already voting for the series to be saved by its transition to HBO, but comments from its representatives have not yet been published.
So far, the show has not been renewed for a fourth season, and most likely its fate will be decided in the next two weeks.
Superman & Lois chronicles the lives of these two characters. Clark Kent is married to Lois Lane, a fellow journalist, does ordinary human things, flies around Metropolis at night and saves people.
They have two sons, a steady job and pure love. Lois believes the children should know about their father's abilities, but Superman puts off the moment.
After a series of tragic events, the family decides to move to Smallville, the town where Clark Kent grew up, and the mysterious villain Lex Luthor tries to kill Superman.
The superhero, who easily destroys enemies and criminals, has a hard time getting along with his own children. The manifestation of superpowers in the offspring gives Clark Kent additional worries and responsibilities.
Episode 10 of Superman & Lois will be available for viewing on The CW on the 17th of May.
