Succession S4 Poster Pretty Much Spoiled Shiv's Entire Character Arc
Fans were good with their guesses, but no one could predict this.
The grand finale of The Succession was so powerful and heartbreaking in so many ways that the Internet is still trying to recover from it. It's hard to believe that the beloved show will no longer be returning to its usual time slot and will never bring viewers another twist in the family drama.
However, Jesse Armstrong left so much to unpack in this one last episode that everyone is still far from calming down and finishing their analysis.
Now that we all know what fate awaits each of the Roy siblings, everything suddenly falls into place. Every clue, every hint, every key that the creative team of Succession has dropped throughout the seasons, and even in the promotional materials for this one, is now being studied by the fanbase and connected to the bigger picture.
One of the most revealing pieces of the promo was undoubtedly the season 4 poster, which not only foreshadowed the nature of Logan Roy's death but also gave viewers a pretty good idea of what was going to happen to every other character.
However, by focusing on Kendall on top of the skyscraper, the audience missed another obvious clue: the reflections behind Shiv Roy and Tom Wambsgans.
On one poster, Shiv is reflected to be standing right behind Tom's back on her side of the poster, while he's standing in front of her on his side. While the two of them being separated for the poster suggested an impending divorce, the reflections actually suggested the idea of them getting back together.
Not only that, but the reflections on the poster clearly gave the audience a clue as to how Shiv will end up at the very end: tucked behind Tom's back in an unhappy but somewhat safe position with proximity to power.
The final moment between her and her husband, when she's forced to give him her hand but refuses to intertwine their fingers, perfectly captures her pain.
Though Shiv's ending was not a happy one, the character's arc is still worth every minute spent watching Succession.
If you're already missing the chaos of the Roy family, stream Succession from the beginning on MAX and look for more clues and hints that may have gone unnoticed before.
