No one really understands what's going on between those two, and that's the beauty of it.

It's fair that most of the Succession fans' attention is focused on the Roys and their relationships within the family.

After all, it is highly likely that one of them will become the heir, so the audience is watching closely to make their predictions.

However, there are certain relationships outside the family that may be even more interesting, and certainly more complicated, than any sibling relationship.

Take Roman Roy for example. One way to describe him would be as a child who desperately needs to grow up but somehow doesn't.

He may be downright disgusting at times, but he still manages to get the attention of Gerri, a mature and understanding woman who seems to be there for him all the time when he's at his lowest.

Their dynamic, very taboo and only made more attractive by it, keeps viewers glued to their screens.

However, with the latest episode, there may have been a power shift between them, which makes things even more intriguing.

"Gerri's mature and wise enough to understand the best play now is to put Roman in the position to desperately need to apologize to her to re-establish their connection. He needs her and she knows it.

Hugging him at that moment she would have lost all of her leverage. She's whip-smart, and because he was vulnerable with her in the past -she fully understands how to manipulate him," Redditor NewSummerOrange explained.

As many would agree, whether or not Gerri was amused by Roman and had a certain fondness for him, she was always motivated by her own self-interest.

And Logan's death was just the perfect opportunity for her to finally prove herself as a strong player in this corporate game.

Roman, on the other hand, will have to learn the lesson the hard way, by losing someone he thought he could play around with.
