This decision is very much in keeping with the spirit of the show.

The news that Succession would end after season 4 caught everyone by surprise. It's rare to see a show of such popularity end its story at its peak instead of dragging it out for many more seasons than necessary.

With all the hilarious trailers, teasers, and posters, the season is expected to be no worse than the previous ones.

Fans were both heartbroken at the inevitable goodbyes to their favorite characters and relieved that the story would not get boring.

It's not uncommon for fans to receive such news unexpectedly, but it's not often the case for cast members. However, Succession handled the cancellation in a way that seems very true to the show: with a clear head and a cold heart.

In her interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sarah Snook, who portrayed Shiv on the series, shared that she wasn't informed of the show's end until the final table read in January.

"I felt a huge sense of loss, disappointment, and sadness. It would have been nice to know at the beginning of the season, but I also understand not being told until the end because there was still a potential that maybe this wasn't going to be the end," the actress said, later suggesting she was not the only one in the cast who got the news so late.

Snook's emotions are understandable, especially considering how much work she and the rest of the cast put in to bring the show to life on screen.

However, if we're to believe that there was a sense of uncertainty and at least a little hope that Succession had a future, it's a good thing the production gave it a shot.

The fourth and final season of Succession will air on HBO on Sunday, March 26. Be sure to tune in so you don't miss the final battle as the Roy siblings try to convince their father to choose a worthy successor.
