Did the show drop a hint on how to take down Vecna?

Fans are eagerly anticipating the fifth and final season of Strange Things. While the season isn't expected anytime soon, fans have nothing left to do but to seek answers in the previous seasons.

A Reddit user shared an intriguing theory that may reveal one Vecna's big weakness.

We know that Vecna's power lies in inducing despair and hopelessness in his victims. He thrives on their mental anguish, using it to manipulate and ultimately destroy them.

In previous encounters, Vecna has employed his deadly vines to immobilize and capture his prey. However, something changed when Max managed to break free from Vecna's grasp.

With the help of the mystical power of music, specifically an amazing tune by Kate Bush, Max opened a portal back to reality and regained her memories of happier times and her cherished friendships.

This resurgence of hope and resistance disrupted Vecna's control over her.

Remarkably, when Max attempted to flee from Vecna, he did not employ his usual tactics. Instead of employing his vines to trip her or drag her back to him, Vecna simply seethed with anger and hurled rocks in her direction.

The fan theory suggests that Vecna's inability to use his vines on Max during her escape may be due to her breaking the psychic link that would have enabled him to kill her. In other words, he didn't stop her because he simply couldn't.

Another interesting aspect of this theory is the suggestion that Vecna is somehow weakened within his mind lair. In this mental domain, his powers may not function at their full capacity.

To put it simply, he can't project any illusions if a person manages to snap out of it, like Max did.

That's actually exactly what happened with Eleven as well. She managed to break free when she heard Mike's voice, and once she did it, Vecna was no longer able to hold her.

The theory sounds intriguing, and it's exciting to see how it will actually play out in the final season.

At the moment, there is no specific information on the release date, but most likely, Stranger Things will drop the last season in 2025.
