'Stranger Things' Test Subject 001 Finally Revealed, And Here's What Fans Have To Say
4th season of Netflix's hit show is out, and fans finally got an answer to one of the most important questions of the entire series – who is 001?
Major Spoilers Ahead!
Dr. Martin Brenner's experiments in Hawkins' laboratory paved the way for all the drama around the small town: the various test subjects used in the experiments were given supernatural powers. Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, was one of the test subjects who first appeared on screen; other ones appeared in the next seasons of the series, including Kali Prasad or Eight and Jamie or Nine. Thus, the mystery surrounding the first subject became the focus of much discussion, with many fans believing that Mind Flayer must be the one.
However, Season 4 immediately debunked this notion with the new dangerous villain appearing in Hawkins, using some kind of magic to kill its victims. The villain was named Vecna, and the later revelation that he was actually 001 really stunned fans.
It later turns out that Vecna is Henry Creel, a young boy who came to live to Hawkins with his family after World War II. Henry was an unhappy child, suffering from heavy visions, and the death of his mother, while his father was accused of murdering his wife and sent to spend his days in an insane asylum for the criminally insane. That's when Dr. Brenner steps in, making Creel the first test subject in his cruel experiments.
Although Eleven managed to send the villain back to the Upside Down in the lead-up to season 2, fans are still waiting for the final battle and more thorough character development, arguing that many of Vecna's abilities were not explained in detail in the first 7 episodes.
'Stranger Thing' season 4 volume 2 will arrive on Netflix on July 1, 2022.
