And we thought that wrapping up a horror show should be a relief.

In a recent interview on The Tonight Show, Gaten Matarazzo, who stars as Dustin Henderson in the critically acclaimed science fiction horror drama TV series Stranger Things, confessed that he is anxious about what comes next after season five, which will be the show's finale.

The actor said that it is interesting for him to be constantly reminded of how much people have connected with the show.

The show was a part of his life throughout his teenage years and into his 20s, so it has naturally become essential to him, as well as many of the other cast members.

When Matarazzo was asked whether it was hard or satisfying to finally leave the series behind, he responded with a surprisingly sincere answer.

"Of course it is. There's kind of an excitement there because you always want to wrap it up and see how these characters are going to finally develop one last time, and how they're going to finish their journeys. But also there's like a deep fear. Not only has it been amazing, but it's been pretty great job security for a while. Back to freelance," Gaten said.

In addition to starring in the hit Netflix series, Matarazzo also appeared in The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019), My Father's Dragon (2022), and Honor Society (2022).

He also portrayed Tobias Ragg on stage in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Broadway this year.

Fans are expressing their love and support for the actor, admiring his performance and wishing him to be able to continue his career successfully.

They agree that going from an established normal life to the unknown can be quite stressful at this age, although it is a common situation.

Other users add that it's good to remember that actors are workers, too, and they want to stay employed and relevant in their field just like everyone else.

Some fans say that his performance on stage was wonderful and maybe he should try to pursue a career on stage, as pointed out by a Reddit user AccessibleBeige:

"He's in Sweeney Todd on Broadway right now, and he is so, so good as Tobias! People in the audience were talking about him as much as they were Josh Groban. I actually wasn't aware Gatan had done so many Broadway shows, but I'm glad I know now."

The release date for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things has not yet been announced.
