With the end of the WGA strike, work on the script finally resumed after months of anticipation.

More than a year after the end of season 4 of Stranger Things, fans have been eagerly awaiting the show's much-anticipated finale.

The show was already notorious for having rather long gaps between seasons, which was one of the main points of criticism from fans, as the young actors aged significantly between seasons, leading to some rather comical results.

So when the Hollywood strikes hit, the situation became even more dire, as production of the series had to be put on hold, and with no clear indication of when the crisis would end, fans feared that the wait for the show's grand finale might end up being the longest in the series' entire history.

Thankfully, they can now breathe a sigh of relief, as following the recent end of the WGA strike, the writing team for the hit Netflix show has just announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that they have resumed work on the script for season 5.

This is a huge and extremely welcome step forward for the final season of the show, as at least the earliest stage of its development can now finally be completed.

However, it is not yet time to fully celebrate the return of Stranger Things, as a second and arguably more important (for the production process) Hollywood strike is still in effect.

There is still no indication of when the SAG-AFTRA strike will end, though the case of the WGA strike may indicate that the studios are willing to negotiate a mutually beneficial decision.

So even if the story for the season is written soon, filming won't begin until the strike is settled and the actors can return to their postponed projects.

The official release date for Stranger Things season 5 has not yet been announced.
