Stranger Things S5 Update Brings Fans a Nasty Surprise
The grand finale of the series was expected to be released in early 2025, but apparently that is no longer the case.

Though Stranger Things remains one of the best projects ever produced for Netflix, going strong over the course of four seasons, the show's fifth and final season has already become quite infamous, despite the fact that it hasn't even been released yet.
Season 2 ended in July 2022, teasing fans with a final episode that raised the stakes to an all-time high and suggested that the closing chapter of the story would be absolutely spectacular.
Nearly two years later, however, the fifth season still hasn't seen the light of day, as production was significantly delayed due to the Hollywood strikes of 2023, leaving fans wondering how long they'd have to wait.
Filming finally began in January 2024, giving them a sigh of relief and the hope that, after a very long wait, the fifth season of the show would be released at least in early 2025.
Unfortunately, a new update on the series suggests that this might not be the case, making the possible release window for season 5 quite blurry.
Season 5 Will Reportedly Take a Full Year Just to Film
During her recent interview with Business Insider, Linda Hamilton, who joined the cast of the series in the summer of 2023 playing an undisclosed role, hinted that the filming process could take a full year.
The actress stated that she is happy to be a part of Stranger Things and has "a year of shooting" ahead of her, also mentioning that such a lengthy filming process is an "unheard of luxury" nowadays.
Considering that principal photography is only part of the production process, if season 5 wraps up shooting around February 2025, it will take several more months to complete post-production, editing and visual effects.
With all that in mind, if the information provided by Hamilton is correct (as there has been no official confirmation from the show's creators, the Duffer brothers), Stranger Things season 5 won't be released until at least mid-2025, if not later.
Stranger Things Fans Are Tired of Waiting
Fans point out that while filming can indeed take a long time, the situation with Stranger Things is getting ridiculous.
The events of season 5 are supposed to pick up right after the finale of season 4, but the three-year gap between seasons kind of hurts the continuity of the story from the viewer's perspective.
In any case, for now fans can only wait for the official announcement of the release date and hope that the finale of the show won't be postponed any further.
