It seems that the Duffer Brothers know how not to upset the fans of the show, contrary to the crazy theory that claimed otherwise.

Summary:

  • With the Hollywood strikes resolved, more information about Stranger Things season 5 is finally coming out
  • The show's creators addressed the most concerning theory about the series finale and proved it wrong
  • Fans are relieved to learn this, as this twist would have made the entire plot of the series completely pointless

It has been more than a year since the fourth season of Stranger Things ended, and the anticipation for the fifth (and final) season has become unbearable for many fans, as it is still a long way from release.

However, with the Hollywood strikes that put production on hold for quite some time now over, the show's finale is getting closer by the day and the creators are giving fans breadcrumbs of information about its story.

Throughout the show's run, fans have come up with a number of theories about how it will end, some of them quite bizarre, but it seems that the most anticlimactic one has just been officially debunked by the creators themselves.

One of the rumors claimed that all of the supernatural events that the series has revolved around never actually happened, and were all part of an incredibly convoluted Dungeons and Dragons session that the main characters are playing.

In a recent interview with Metro, the Duffer Brothers addressed this crazy theory, confirming that it is, in fact, false and assuring that fans will see a much more satisfying finale that will hopefully please everyone.

While it would have been a completely unexpected plot twist, fans are relieved to hear that it definitely won't be happening, as it would have undoubtedly led to a massive backlash from angry viewers.

After the show has been running for so many years since its debut in 2016, pulling the "it was all a dream" trick would have been an insult to the dedicated fanbase that has been (and still is) patiently waiting for the grand finale.

Fortunately, the creators seem to understand this and hopefully have something special in store for the fans, even if they haven't given any other hints as to what to expect.

Production on Stranger Things season 5 is scheduled to begin in January 2024, but no release date has been announced.
