Stephen King’s Classic Story Traumatized… Another Horror Author
The King of Horror is well aware of the effect he has on unassuming readers, including his fellow horror authors.
Many people write scary stories, make bone-chilling movies, and create concept art for terrifying video games. The horror industry is massive and easy to get lost in if you’re new to it, so here’s a quick and easy pointer: when you don’t know who to go to, remember that the title of “King of Horror” is not given out of pity, and there’s a reason why Stephen King has been boasting it for the many past decades.
This man even manages to terrify fellow horror authors with his writing, apparently!
King Endorses Aspiring Horror Writers Online
It’s not that hard to impress us casual folks as Stephen King has proven countless times. Our mundane minds can’t comprehend the horrors that are born in his head, but what about his colleagues?.. The King of Horror has quite an effect on them, too.
Ally Malinenko is King’s fellow author of horror stories, and she got public endorsements from him in the past. The celebrated writer even went as far as to “pre-order” Malinenko’s upcoming book on X (formerly Twitter), saying that “Broken Dolls is the one. Great title. I need it SOON.” So, the two are somewhat acquainted.
Obviously, for Malinenko, praise from Stephen King was massive for many reasons, including her being a longtime fan of the author. But even now that she’s a horror writer, too, King still has a grip on her with his classic stories — and finds it funny.
King Is ‘Killing’ Fellow Horror Author with His Stories
Recently, the aspiring horror star got to King’s golden classic, Salem’s Lot, and it left her petrified and frustrated.
“King is killing me with this book ‘cause he gets you to care about these town people by spending all your time with them and now he’s just killing everyone off,” Malinenko jokingly complained on X (formerly Twitter).
The celebrated author didn’t take long to notice the rant and respond to it. Stephen King demonstrated his trademark self-awareness and claimed that wasn’t true.
“Well, not EVERYONE. Just… MOSTLY everyone,” he retorted, gathering laughs from fans in the comment section — and quite a few pleas for a sequel, while they were at it.
You know you’re the king of your genre when your fellow authors are frustrated with how well you manipulate their emotions… But to be perfectly honest, Stephen King often does it himself, pointing out promising new writers and praising them.
