Station 19 Renewed For Another Season, But There Are Major Changes Ahead
Fans should beware of possible twists.
Fortunately for both Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 fans, both the original show and its spinoff have been picked up by ABC for another season.
For Grey's Anatomy, the new season will mark a major 20th anniversary on television, while Station 19 fans will be celebrating their 7th year on the air.
However, this uplifting news comes with some major production changes.
Previously, news broke of Krista Vernoff's sudden departure from her position as showrunner of Grey's Anatomy.
Little did fans know that she would also be stepping down from the showrunner position on Station 19, leaving it to Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige, both of whom have previously worked on a show as producers.
Although there are no newcomers who could change the essence of the show, the change of the showrunner is always noticeable in the quality of the season, so fans are ready to hold on and see what awaits them in the future.
None of the producers, however, did declare any desire to bring some major changes to the show itself.
It looks like the concept of the show is safe among all the cast members.
In their respective statements, Clark and Paige showed nothing but respect and gratitude for the team that worked on Station 19, and hope to strengthen what they already have.
"To get to partner with a talent like Zoanne as showrunners truly makes it all the more exciting — we share a similar vision for the show, and we've got some incredible twists and turns planned for the coming season," Paige added in his statement.
Whether or not the promised twists and turns will be welcomed by fans of the series remains to be seen. However, the change in the showrunner could have a positive effect on the show's ratings and breathe new life into the show.
Fans may have different opinions on different writers and producers, but all would agree that they want to see Station 19 follow in the footsteps of Grey's Anatomy and reach the 20-season mark in the future.
Tune in to Station 19 every Thursday on ABC.
