And this transition from firefighter to surgeon now seems almost inevitable.

The work of the Seattle Fire Department is dangerous and difficult, but so honorable that dozens of recruits want to earn the right to wear heat-resistant uniforms, drive big red trucks, and climb down the pole at the sound of an alarm. And one of these recruits is former surgeon Ben Warren.

After a tragedy involving victims of a fire he witnessed, Ben requested a transfer to the 19th Fire Station, where a well-coordinated team of rescuers was already working under the leadership of Captain Herrera. There is no time for long coordination with the rest of the team. Warren goes to the emergency calls as soon as he passes the first briefing – the fire will not wait.

Thus began Station 19, a spinoff of Grey's Anatomy that has become as beloved by fans as the original series. But all good things must come to an end (except Grey's Anatomy), and Station 19 just wrapped.

Station 19 Has Ended, And We Have All the Chances to See Ben on Grey's Anatomy

However, the characters in Station 19 have one advantage – they can move from a show about firefighters to a show about doctors. And yes, Ben Warren, we're looking at you.

Even before the show ended, fans suspected that Jason George's Ben might return to Grey's Anatomy, and with the ending viewers got, the likelihood of that happening has skyrocketed.

“Maybe if Station 19 ends and Greys is still going on, I could see him transitioning back to Greys as a surgeon,” Reddit user eajmanatee wrote.

Meg Martinis, the showrunner of the original series, also commented, partially confirming what fans suspected:

“How they end their stories [on Station 19] will help me determine whether or not I will be seeing those characters on Grey’s.”

Station 19 Hints at Ben Going Back to Being a Surgeon

Ben fulfilled his dream of becoming a firefighter, and his medical skills made him even more valuable to the team. However, a shoulder injury prevented him from performing 100% of his duties, which was hinted at by other characters and raised suspicions among fans that Ben would still return to his former profession.

In the finale of Station 19, Ben openly talks about wanting to return to his surgical practice. So, Ben Warren fans, your time has come – most likely we will see a new/old character in the next season of Grey's Anatomy.
