Star Wars Rey Movie May Redeem Sequels' Most Poorly-Handled Character
It seems that the upcoming movie will try to correct some of the mistakes of the trilogy.
With the official announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2023 that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct the movie about Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order, news and predictions about the project have been pouring in.
And one particular rumor may indicate that Disney is desperately trying to clean up the mess that the sequel trilogy has made with the upcoming film.
According to The Hot Mic Podcast with Jeff Sneider and John Rocha, John Boyega will join Daisy Ridley reprising his role as Finn.
Considering that Sneider and Rocha have already shared some predictions which turned out to be true, such as Damon Lindelof's departure from directing the Rey film and that three new films would be announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, there is reason to believe that this one could be true as well.
In this case, it appears that the upcoming film will attempt to right the many wrongs of the sequel trilogy, a kind of redemption for the characters.
The creators' decision to relegate Finn to the background was one of the most criticized aspects of the films.
He was the first character shown in the teaser for The Force Awakens in 2015, and the movie presented him as a major player.
However, with the infamous changes that have been made to the trilogy with each new release, his role has been significantly reduced, much to the disappointment of fans.
Even John Boyega himself expressed his displeasure with how his character was ultimately treated on more than one occasion.
It seems that it may have cost Disney a considerable amount of money to bring him back after his public backlash on the matter.
Perhaps the movie will show Finn finally becoming a Jedi, as the arc of him being Force sensitive was completely dropped after barely being mentioned in Episode VII.
Considering that the plot will revolve around Rey rebuilding the Order, he seems like the perfect candidate to become her apprentice.
The movie's title and release date have not yet been announced.
