Star Wars: Ahsoka’s Insane Plot Armor Actually Has A Reasonable Explanation
Ahsoka has survived events similar to the infamous Order 66 on three separate occasions, and there is a good reason for that.
Summary:
- Since her debut in 2008, Ahsoka has appeared in an impressive number of Star Wars projects
- But the fact that she has managed to survive against all odds has led some fans to believe that her plot armor is ridiculous
- However, there is a fairly reasonable in-universe explanation for why she is able to oppose clones so effectively
Ahsoka Tano, who made her debut in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is arguably the most popular Star Wars character who didn't originate in one of the live-action films.
In addition to the aforementioned movie, she has appeared in the TV series The Clone Wars, Rebels, Tales of the Jedi, The Mandalorian, and most recently in her own live-action series, Ahsoka, the first season of which premiered in the summer of 2023.
Naturally, after so many adventures, the character has had her share of close calls over the years, finding herself on the brink of death more than once, only to persevere against all odds.
Some Fans Find Ahsoka's Plot Armor Ridiculous
However, some fans suggest that her plot armor may be a bit too thick, pointing out that she has managed to survive situations similar to the infamous Order 66, which proved to be the downfall of many trained Jedi, even Masters, on three separate occasions.
During the seven seasons of The Clone Wars, the then-young Jedi faced off against trained clone troopers three times and still managed to come out on top.
First, in episode 8 of season 2, which concluded the Second Battle of Geonosis story arc, some of the clones were infected with mind-controlling brain parasites.
This led to Ahsoka and fellow Padawan Barriss Offee being trapped on a ship with hostile puppets and having to find a way to destroy the parasitic worms.
Then, during the story arc in which Ahsoka was falsely accused of being responsible for the attack on the Jedi Temple that wrapped up the show's fifth season, she managed to avoid being captured immediately.
While she was eventually apprehended, the fact that she was able to evade active pursuit for so long while still a Padawan was quite impressive.
Lastly, during the season 7 finale, Order 66 happened, which was even more intense than anything she had ever experienced before, and she VERY narrowly survived by deflecting the hail of blaster shots at point-blank range.
Ahsoka Has Been Specifically Trained To Oppose Clones
So what makes Ahsoka so special that she could survive things that countless other Jedi could not?
Of course, the fact that Dave Filoni, the creator and showrunner of most of the projects involving the character, really likes her definitely played a part, but at least there was a reasonable in-universe explanation for it.
The Tales of the Jedi animated anthology series, which premiered in 2022, focused on providing more details about the pasts of iconic Star Wars characters, with the first season delving into the backstories of Count Dooku and Ahsoka.
In particular, episode 5 showed us how Anakin Skywalker trained his Padawan to defend herself against a group of clone troopers, because if she can defend herself against clones, fighting Separatist droids won't be much of a challenge.
After a series of grueling training sessions in which she failed again and again, Ahsoka finally learned to deflect all blaster shots while surrounded.
Although this episode had obvious parallels to the finale of The Clone Wars, it is quite logical to assume that all of this training was essential in the other two confrontations with clones that Ahsoka managed to survive.
