The latest Spider-Man movie wowed audiences with its multiverse storyline.

While fans were busy speculating about plot twists and Easter eggs, some have noticed that the villains portrayed by familiar actors looked slightly different from their previous appearances.

For example, the Lizard in No Way Home had a more reptilian face and lacked his lab coat and glasses, while the Green Goblin appeared to have a different hairstyle and costume.

These variations led Redditor Stonecutter1220 to the following theory.

The universes from which Peter 2, Peter 3, and their villains come are not exact replicas of those depicted in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films and the Amazing Spider-Man movies.

Instead of bringing the characters directly from their original films, the multiverse portal created by Doctor Strange and Peter Parker opened gates to parallel dimensions that are similar to, but not identical to, the worlds of those movies.

Thus, the villains who appeared in No Way Home are not the same individuals we saw in Sam Raimi 's flicks and The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield installments.

Rather, they are their counterparts from a slightly different universe. This would clarify the discrepancies in appearance and personality that some fans have pointed out.

It would also avoid the need for extensive retconning or backstory exposition, which could have slowed down the pacing and emotional impact of the movie.

Fans agree with this theory. Some even claim that this has been discussed since the release of the movie, while others feel that this assumption perfectly explains the difference in Electro's costume.

However, a few fans don't like this kind of plot structure, where popular heroes and villains are lumped together.

Still, No Way Home was an audience and commercial success. Fans are looking forward to a new movie about a beloved hero.

Hopefully, the writers themselves will not get confused with the rules of the multiverse, otherwise Spider-Man might become another Quantumania.
