Spider-Man 4 Might Get to Theaters Later Than Everyone Expected
Spider-Man 4 does not yet have a confirmed release date, yet it is one of the most anticipated upcoming Marvel movies. Probably the most anticipated one.
And that's even though we only know that the movie is in the works and not much else. There are rumors claiming Sony and Marvel are working on new deals, including Tom Holland 's contract for the upcoming trilogy and additional MCU appearances, but rumors are just that, rumors.
However, some of them appear to be more substantial that others – and, unfortunately, rather disappointing. While many fans hoped to see the new Spider-Man movie by the end of 2024, now it looks like that it is not going to be released before Christmas of 2025.
From where this rumor comes from, and why should we pay attention to it? Well, there is the /r/MarvelStudioSpoilerscommunity on Reddit.
As you can see, currently it is inaccessible. And it was shut down soon after a post appeared there, saying that several Marvel movies are going to be delayed. This information aligns with Kevin Feige's recent comments about Marvel wanting to give fans more breathing room between projects, especially when it comes to series they release on Disney Plus.
Anyway, according to /r/MarvelStudioSpoilers' mods, trusted sources informed them of Marvel's planned releases, and their leak says that Spider-Man 4 will hit the theatres on December 19th, 2025.
There apparently are issues which make it impossible for Sony and Marvel to release the movie during the Christmas 2024 window, and so it was moved to the next Christmas season. Given the massive popularity and box office success of No Way Home, which earned nearly $2 billion, they seek to maximize profits from the next Spider-Man movie, even if that means delaying it.
And the fact that Marvel appears to have taken action against the community substantiates the leaks. But whether they're accurate or not, official release plans for Spider-Man 4 should be released fairly soon. If the leak is correct, we might expect Marvel to announce their adjusted schedule at the next Comic-Con event, or around that time.
