Sorry, Bridgerton Fans, Nicola Coughlan Just Confirmed You'll Have To Wait Until 2024
No Christmas presents for us this year.
Summary:
- Bridgerton is a Netflix romantic period drama based on the book series by Julia Quinn.
- Fans of the show are currently waiting for the release date of season 3, which will focus on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
- There was a hope to see the season premiere on Christmas Day, but Nicola Coughlan, who portrays Penelope, denied this and confirmed the 2024 release.
Dearest reader, it’s with a heavy heart we have to inform you, that you shall continue to exercise your patience for a little longer, as season 3 of Bridgerton is still nowhere near to be seen. In fact, the only thing that is now known for sure about the season is that it will not come in 2023. This has just been confirmed by Nicola Coughlan, who plays one of the main characters.
The actress sat down for an interview with The Six O'Clock Show and talked about Bridgerton for the first time since the SAG-AFTRA strike was settled. While many thought that Coughlan might be able to shed some light on the prospects of the new season, given that she has been the bearer of good news for Shondaland before, they were proven wrong.
The actress has shared some sweet details about what to expect from Bridgerton season 3, but hasn't dropped the date. In fact, she mentioned that she's been kept in the dark about the release news as well:
“I’m like ‘You think you’re impatient? You have no idea how impatient I feel about it’. It will finally be coming out in 2024, and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. <...> I just want people to see it now. I have no date yet, so I’m checking my e-mails every day,” Coughlan said.
Bridgerton Season 3 Leaks And Clues
Unfortunately, there isn't much to say about season 3. What is known is that the season will focus on the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, and according to this very same interview with Nicola, it will have some classic romcom elements.
Another little detail that has been teased several times, not only by the current leads but also by last season's fan favorites, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, is that season 3 will be hot. Though no one really elaborated, knowing Bridgerton, viewers don't need much convincing.
Of course, fans who have read the books have their own ideas about what to expect. But knowing how much Shonda Rhimes has already changed, it's almost impossible to predict which storylines will make it to the screen.
Keep an eye out if you don't want to miss the premiere of Bridgerton season 3 in 2024. Until then, you can always go back and watch the first two seasons or the prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, on Netflix.
