The Gen V spin-off continues to feature familiar faces from the main series.

After the runaway success of The Boys, a superhero TV series created by Eric Kripke and based on the comic book of the same name, it was only a matter of time before the world of the series began to expand.

And sure enough, on September 20, 2020, a spin-off TV series called Gen V was announced, much to the delight of fans.

The story will focus on the students of Godolkin University, an institution for young superheroes run by the ever-present Vought International, where candidates are tested in battles against each other to control their abilities and earn their place in the company's lineup of heroes.

Based on the comic book arc We Gotta Go Now, it's described as a hybrid between The Hunger Games and a classic college drama, introducing new characters for viewers to root for.

But besides adding new faces, the show will also bring back some familiar ones.

Recently, while speaking on stage at the Creation New Orleans fan convention in Louisiana, Jensen Ackles confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Soldier Boy for a cameo appearance in the spinoff.

"Soldier Boy pops up for a brief moment in this new spin-off of The Boys. In fact, there's a few cameos from the mothership that come into this spin-off. My little bit there was heavily [improvised]," said the actor.

Ackles then elaborated that he and Eric Kripke tossed around different ideas and created different takes on the superhero's appearance, and it was "a beautiful collaboration" on that set.

Fans found Jensen's portrayal of a twisted version of Captain America to be the best part of the third season of the main series, and they can't wait to see his story continue in season 4.

So naturally, they are eager to see him reprise the role even sooner than expected.

In fact, many people enjoyed it so much that they want Soldier Boy to have his own spinoff series, even though they have little optimism about it.

"A Gen V cameo in a Soldier Boy spinoff would have been much, much better, but they basically made him the embodiment of the worst of the worst so I guess that's impossible," Reddit user anasui1 said.

Well, don't speak too soon: after all, The Boys has vividly proved we're more than capable of rooting for highly questionable characters.

The Gen V TV series release date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be this year.
