Simple Reason Why Everyone (Unfairly) Hates Two Final Seasons of The Office
When the absence of one person can make such a huge difference…
The Office is an iconic series, there is no doubt. True fans binge-watch the series several times a year, and some episodes just are put on repeat all the time (hello there, Dinner Party fans).
But as much as everybody loves the series 1-7 seasons, they hate seasons 8 and 9. And there is a particular reason for that… the absence of the "world's best boss" Michael Scott.
"Michael might as well have put the show into his luggage and taken it with him on that plane to Colorado. It's just not the same without him. Then the producers or whoever tried to fill the gaping hole he left by creating these god-awful unfunny try-hards like Robert California and Nellie. Plus I think by then Michael Schur had left and the writing was different anyway," Reddit user delsjdjt said.
This is a common reason for hating these two seasons. And it's easy to understand! Well, with the main character leaving the show, what else did you expect from the fans? It's not easy to get used to the changes.
But it seems that some fans still think that the writers did their best to make the show successful after Michael's departure. And even without him the seasons were still funny and full of events.
"Obviously they're not AS good and they can never replace Micheal, but it took me a couple rewatches to realize that seasons 8 and 9 are really no longer about the boss, it just becomes way more about everyone else in the office, which is probably part of the reason they chose Andy for the new manager," Reddit user Kmm123 said.
Many fans especially adore Robert California's performance. They think he did a great job on the show, being a new kind of weirdo that the show hadn't had before.
But Nellie... Well, that was a different level of crazy experience. But still, could you really say that you didn't enjoy it? How about I offer you a raise?
