Fans of the dystopian genre can rest easy – the second season of Silo is on its way, and it will be here soon enough.

On June 30, the tenth episode of Silo, based on the Wool book series by author Hugh Howey, aired on Apple TV+. The final episode of the first season answered some of the questions viewers had, while setting up some new mysteries.

Viewers were also left wondering when the second season of the popular series, which had already been officially renewed, would be released.

However, the intrigue did not last long – unexpectedly, the author of the original books himself confirmed in the official Facebook group that the second season of Silo will be released in 2024.

The WGA Strike will not affect the release date of the series. The adaptation for the second season was written before the release of the first season, so apparently the shooting has already begun.

Given this fact, we can expect the release of the second season in the summer of 2024.

The project's showrunner and screenwriter, Graham Yost, previously worked on the cult action movie Speed with Keanu Reeves and the series Justified.

His Silo adaptation proved to be a worthy representative of the genre: the series resembles all the main figures of dystopian creativity from George Orwell to The Hunger Games and The Platform, but at the same time it mostly avoids outright trivialities and surprises with an emotional approach.

The characters are fascinating and their dilemmas enticing.

Everyone, even the minor characters, have clear motivations, and with each new episode they show viewers more of themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, fears and experiences. The audience believes that these are living people, not empty bobbleheads.

The success of the show is based on a strong storyline and diverse characters played by actors who can show that diversity.

So, if you're a fan of dystopia, it's time to find out what secrets Silo hides.
