Is it really that much of a thrill to off characters?

Silo is the latest Apple TV Plus show, and even though it has only aired 5 episodes so far, it has already become one of the shows that viewers are obsessed with.

Frankly, each episode has you holding your breath from the beginning to the end. And there's a reason for that.

The thing is, the showrunners somehow (maybe even unintentionally) decided to follow the steps of another iconic show – Game of Thrones.

Well, like Benioff and Weiss' show, Silo started its story by killing off the characters that were established as the main protagonists of the show.

One of the first characters to be killed off in the show was the computer guy George Wilkins. In the story, he was murdered because he knew too much, and it may even make sense in a way.

His girlfriend at the time, Juliette Nichols, asked the sheriff to help her investigate.

But before that, Holston had some personal drama of his own to deal with. His wife Allison decided to "go out" to find the truth about Silo, but also died tragically, leaving Holston with all kinds of questions.

Unable to deal with it all, Holston decided to leave Silo as well. And apparently died on the outside. In the following episodes we have two more deaths.

But this time they were both murdered. The chief deputy and the mayor, just ruthlessly killed.

With one main character still alive, it's only natural for fans to wonder who else the show's creators might kill next. But most fans feel that the reasoning behind that decision was pretty obvious, and that the choice was actually inevitable.

"Personally, I think this is a good choice for a show like Silo as it reinforces how fragile things are and in a sense kind of how limited things are.

It's also great because it helps us get more attached to the silo/story as opposed to just caring about certain characters. And the fact that you think they're main characters shows the power of good writing," Redditor Aegi shared.

In fact, fans point out that what the shows have in common is the desire to portray several key characters as main protagonists.

Even if they leave the show soon enough. It just means that their stories play an important role in the bigger picture of the show. But seriously, we are lowkey scared for Juliette Nichols.

New episode of Silo arrives on Apple TV on Friday, June 2.
