Silo Fans Think They Solved the Mystery of the Cafeteria Guy
There's obviously something sneaky about that guy.
Even though we're only four episodes into Silo, it's clear that pretty much everything can be a Chekhov's gun in this show.
That's why the fans of the new Apple TV sci-fi hit are digging into the personality of someone who is already known in the fandom as "the cafeteria guy."
The said guy seems to be just a random person who would sit there and stare at the window, apparently checking out the views in the toxic outside world.
However, fans believe that he is not just there to admire the starry sky or to have an existential crisis.
After the Mechanical shut down the generator to repair it, plunging the Silo into darkness for a moment, there was a small glitch in the window's sensors.
Instead of the desolate world outside, green trees, a bright sky, and birds were briefly visible – something that might indicate that things are not exactly the way the Silo authorities are trying to portray them.
"The guy in the cafeteria might be sketching the position of stars? If the videofeed is a lie they might not move as they should," suggested Redditor ProcessPure4557, thinking that the cafeteria guy is among the people who got suspicious after the glitch.
Other people think the guy is just watching the screens carefully after the glitch in order to try and spot something else that could unveil the mystery of the outside world.
After all, why would he try and approach Juliette, who is clearly also having second thoughts about everything that is going on in the Silo?
But why watch the stars? Well, the answer is pretty simple.
"Is it possible the stars aren't moving at all, thus, the background is fake, just like the lush green grass one? [...] In episode 3, the sun jumps from the right when the power goes out, to the left of the screen when it's restored, so it sounds like it's a 24 hour video on a loop," Redditor DeimosPD noted.
Ah, don't we love ongoing shows and the torture of waiting for a new episode every week? Silo will return to Apple TV Plus on May 26 to tease us with new mysteries.
