Sick Grey's Anatomy Season That Stops Even Die-Hard Fans From Watching Further
Is there even a point to continue?
Summary:
- Grey’s Anatomy is an ABC medical procedural drama produced by Shonda Rhimes.
- The show has been airing for almost 20 years now, and many fans find the last seasons not worth watching.
- The common breaking point is season 14.
There is no other show like Grey's Anatomy, a statement that pretty much everyone would agree with. While it's not the first medical drama to be extremely popular, it has made a name for itself thanks to the many romances that have occurred throughout the show and the extensive list of characters.
By not being afraid to kill off characters or send them away and instead bring in someone new, Shondaland's producers and writers managed to keep the seasons fresh and interesting for many years. At some point in recent years, however, fans began to wonder: How long is long enough for a show like this?
It's clear that ABC is not ready to give up on their hit show, no matter what happens on the screen. At the end of season 19, there were no original characters left on the show. All 5 interns who joined the show at the beginning, Alex, George, Izzie and Cristina, were long gone from the hospital.
Even Ellen Pompeo, who played the titular character Meredith Grey, announced that she would be leaving the show as well. Nevertheless, the decision was made to continue with the 20th anniversary season, and many of the fans who are still hanging in there, watching episode after episode out of sheer devotion to the show, believe that this will be the last.
When Can You Stop Watching Grey’s Anatomy?
There are a few options that the fandom suggests if you are tired of the show and ready to leave it behind. One would be season 11, after Derek Shepherd's death. Although Grey's Anatomy isn't necessarily a love story, it would be hard to watch the show without him. However, the ending you'll be stuck with will be dark.
Another option is to watch 16 seasons until the exit of Alex Karev, the last of the original five, besides Meredith, who decided it was time to go. His ending may either give you a nice wave of nostalgia or make you very happy that they're ending the show on such a ridiculous note.
However, many people admit that they left the show organically after trying to get through season 14. The reasons for this particular phenomenon cannot be explained, other than that at some point, the majority starts to get tired of the lack of chemistry between Meredith and Nathan, and cannot be bothered to watch any more drama about Owen Hunt.
Another point is the departure of two fan-favorite characters, April Kepner and Arizona Robbins. They were both written out of the show despite the fact that fans were very interested in their stories. Without them, it was even less bearable to continue.
If you are still interested in what Grey's Anatomy has to offer, stay tuned for the announcement of the 20th season's premiere date. Otherwise, you can always go back to the good old days and stream the first seasons of the show on Hulu or Netflix.
