These great shows can bring you something you have been missing since the adventures of Mulder and Scully ended.

With the recent announcement by X-Files creator Chris Carter that his legendary TV series may be getting a reboot under the direction of Ryan Coogler, fans have been divided.

Some predict the reboot will be a massive failure, others want to believe it will revive the series, but one thing seems to be true for both sides: a lot of people miss the adventures of the two iconic FBI agents.

So here are six shows if you want to experience something similar to your beloved sci-fi show... or if you are in a desperate need for something that isn't a reboot.

Warehouse 13

Described by some fans as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets The X-Files," the show revolves around a team of agents who find and neutralize supernatural artifacts that give their owners dangerous powers.

If you don't mind that this sci-fi comedy-drama is nowhere near as dark as its ideological predecessor, it's definitely worth a watch.

Fringe

What started out as an X-Files rip-off managed to find its own voice after the first season. The story follows FBI agents who use fringe science to investigate mysterious events related to a parallel universe.

Some fans even prefer the characters and mythology of this show to The X-Files.

Twin Peaks

An acclaimed classic from David Lynch, the story begins with FBI agent Dale Cooper arriving in the town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer, and it gets more and more mysterious as the show goes on.

An overall great TV series, if you haven't watched it yet, now might be the time.

Dark

Set in a small German town, the plot begins with the disappearance of a child and leads to a mind-bending time travel story.

By the end of the series, you will definitely be trying to wrap your head around the complicated plot.

Mindhunter

The plot follows FBI agents who study the psychology of serial killers in order to apply it to ongoing cases.

No sci-fi here, but this great series from David Fincher can give you weird killers, FBI politics, and a behavioral science vibe that may remind you of some X-Files episodes.

Supernatural

The early seasons of the Winchester brothers' story feel quite similar to the monster-of-the-week formula of The X-Files, although they go more into mysticism than science fiction.

There are also nods and references to Mulder and Scully's adventures throughout the series. But chances are you might want to quit it after season 5...
