Sheridan's Swan Song? Special Ops: Lioness Doesn't Work Like His Previous Hits
Taylor Sheridan is known for his banger shows, but admittedly, Special Ops: Lioness is lacking in all departments, and most fans are really disappointed in this series so far.
It was with Yellowstone that the world truly learned about Taylor Sheridan 's genius, and it's the Yellowverse that keeps carrying the producer's reputation. Even with the main show's unfortunately premature ending, there's still a plethora of spin-offs and prequels either in development or already released for the viewers to rejoice in the modern cowboy atmosphere. That's great.
However, while just recently, it appeared as if Sheridan just couldn't miss, the tables are turning now. The release of the producer's new show, Black Ops: Lioness, had the fans excited at first... but after the first few episodes, more and more people begin voicing their frustration with the series.
The latest entry, Episode 4, really opened the floodgates of the audience's discontent. Arguably, it's thanks to the questionable family plotline that the people are growing increasingly frustrated with Special Ops: Lioness; still, there are more points of disappointment than just the Kate plot twist.
"This show doesn't work on so many different levels. Not as a medical drama. Not as a Special Ops show (which should be its focus). Not as a drama about a woman choosing between work and her family. <...> Shame on Paramount that they put such an awful show on TV. With a cast like this they could have made something fantastic," wrote Reddit user tennispro2589.
Many people agree with them. Some despise Cruz's storyline that sums up to everyday sexual assaults and claim that Sheridan doesn't know of a single other way to put a female character in danger. Others are frustrated with "dumb family crap" amidst a high-stakes Special Ops show. Finally, many people are discontent with the misuse of the extremely talented and star-studded cast of the series.
So far, Special Ops: Lioness doesn't look exactly good in Taylor Sheridan's track record, but everyone makes mistakes. We'll have to see where the show goes from here...but for goodness's sake, it better be done with the family drama really fast. The audience hates it with a burning passion.
