The biggest Young Sheldon misconception revealed.

Summary:

  • Young Sheldon is a CBS sitcom, the prequel to the network's other hit, The Big Bang Theory.
  • The show takes place in a small Texas town in the late 80s and early 90s.
  • The Cooper family was portrayed to show that they came from a lower income, but fans noticed some inconsistencies.

One reason fans love Young Sheldon so much is how relatable the show is. It explores the life of a Texas family with a religious mom, a lazy dad, and three kids, almost all of whom are left to fend for themselves.

While Sheldon Cooper himself may not be the character you'd recognize yourself or your loved ones in, others would probably convince you otherwise. This is why the show has slowly but surely shifted over the years, expanding the time frame and number of storylines for other family members and moving away from Sheldon himself.

But there is no doubt that Sheldon is still the center of attention. If not in the eyes of the audience, then in the loving eyes of his mother, Mary, who is known to spoil him far more than his twin sister, Missy, or his older brother, Georgie.

How Can The Coopers Afford Sheldon’s Interests?

Considering how much attention Mary pays to Sheldon, it's not surprising that he has everything he wants. From the computer (which, to be fair, was necessary for his education) to completely entertaining things like comic books and model trains. What is surprising is where the Coopers get the money to afford all this.

Some eagle-eyed fans of the show found the answer right at the beginning of the show.

In a very heartfelt scene between Sheldon and his father, we learn that he used to have a better job back in Galveston, but was fired for reporting some violations. As hard as it is to focus on anything other than George's character at that moment, it also gives viewers a little glimpse into the Coopers' past life.

From what it sounds like, they used to have better living conditions and were able to afford more when George was getting better payments. They were probably able to save some money from back then and move to Medford with some kind of savings that still adds up to their monthly profits.

If you want to find out what awaits the Coopers in Young Sheldon's final season, mark your calendars for its premiere on February 15 and remember to tune in to CBS.
