'She-Hulk' Poor CGI Effects Are Finally Explained By Series' VFX Team
After the recent 'She-Hulk' trailer release, fans were quite surprised by the CGI in it, with the She-Hulk model looking especially cheap and small compared to the Hulk model.
The 9-episode series, which will be led by Tatiana Maslany in the title role, will also feature Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Tim Roth as Abomination. Obviously, bringing these characters to life isn't easy: their massive figures require a huge amount of CGI to make them look at least a bit realistic. Sure, Marvel Studios' TV shows boast a huge budget (reportedly $20 million per episode), but that's still not enough to equal the budget of full-length MCU movies.
Fans, of course, were disappointed with the VFX shown in the trailer, especially criticizing She-Hulk 's unnatural model and mocking Marvel for not making her character as big as her cousin Hulk.
But it seems that at least some of the complaints about CGI should be addressed to Marvel executives, not to the team behind the VFX effects. One of the artists who worked on the project reached out to Marvel fans on Twitter, explaining that the decision to make Maslany's character model so small actually came from the higher ups.
Some fans, however, did not see the She-Hulk character model as a problem. They stated that it was quite realistic that her green form lacked muscle, given that Jennifer Walters only recently gained her superpowers.
'She-Hulk: Attorney at Law' will arrive on Disney+ on August 17, 2022.
