Shameless Fans Still Not Over Fiona's Story Cut Short

After eleven seasons on the air, Shameless finally ended in 2021 and the Gallaghers said goodbye to their fans without finishing their businesses.

Finale left many questions unanswered, such as what will happen to the family house and how most of the family's life situations will be resolved.

Viewers were left hoping that Emmy Rossum who played Fiona would return for at least a brief moment at the end of the show, but that never happened, even though the showrunners had originally planned for her to make a cameo appearance.

Since the first episodes of Shameless, Fiona has been the central character of the show, and it is not surprising that after her departure, the Gallagher's story was not perceived as before.

In 2019, Emmy left the TV project after nine seasons. According to the plot, Fiona just got on a plane and flew off in an unknown direction.

The actress explained her departure from the show by saying that it was time to move on to other projects.

The way the writers ended Fiona's storyline angered most fans. The fact that she simply abandoned her entire family does not, in viewers' opinion, fit the character.

Fiona has always been the ultimate big sister, looking out for everyone and taking responsibility, and such an act was clearly not in her spirit.

On top of that, she did not even say goodbye to anyone, including Liam, for whom she was the legal guardian.

"Being his guardian was so that he won't have to be left with Frank, her actions in the end made no sense. Why fight for being a guardian when you leave the kid to himself in the end," Reddit user stadtleiche commented.

Fans hoped that Fiona's final episode would be a touching farewell to a beloved character, paying tribute to the nine seasons in which Fiona loved, hated, lost friends and found love.

However, it seems that Emmy Rossum's decision to leave Shameless caught the writers by surprise, which caused such a chaotic turn of events.
