A recent update on the second season of And Just Like That... revealed an unexpected return.

Sex and the City is a truly iconic TV series that is a classic example of early 2000s television. The show has created a huge fan base who loved to follow the life of Carrie Bradshaw, portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker, so when a sequel series, And Just Like That..., was released in 2021, it immediately caught the attention of many fans.

However, the new show wasn't as good as its predecessor, receiving rather average reviews, but it still managed to get enough viewers to survive to this day.

One of the worst things about the new series was Kim Cattrall's refusal to reprise her role as Samantha Jones, which even led to a conflict between her and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The actress stated multiple times that she will not return to play the character, but a recent update regarding the second season of the show revealed that she has apparently changed her decision.

According to Variety, Cattrall will reprise her role for a minor appearance, as she has already shot her scenes. Unfortunately, this is not a full-fledged return of the character, but it would still be great to see her on screen again.

While fans are a little disappointed that it is only a cameo, it is still better than nothing.

Some of them feel that Samantha was the most entertaining of the whole group, outshining her friends more than once, so they hope that the scene she is in will be worth it.

They joke that the showrunners had to come up with a really big paycheck for the actress to suddenly change her mind.

Others feel that it might not have been a good idea, as the actress has already damaged her relationships with the rest of the cast, so it doesn't seem fair to bring her back after all that was said.

The fact that she apparently shot her scenes separately also seems questionable, as what's the point of her returning if she doesn't interact with her on-screen friends?

It could also be an attempt to use fan nostalgia to boost the show's ratings, which seems likely given the underwhelming reception of the first season.

Either way, fans won't have to wait too long to see for themselves. Who knows, maybe the show's creators have considered their previous mistakes and improved the quality for the second season.

Though the chances of that happening are pretty slim, because even though the characters were praised, the core of the story was the main problem, with many saying that the creators simply lost touch with reality.

Perhaps bringing the show back was a bad idea in the first place, as it was a product of its time that simply did not resonate with the majority of modern audiences.

And Just Like That... season 2 will premiere on June 22, 2023.
