Selena Gomez is still remembered by viewers as one of Disney stars – many people who grew up in the 2000s know her as Alex Russo from Wizards of Waverly Place. However, at the time, Selena formed her own pop-rock group, Selena Gomez & the Scene, with which she released several commercial hits, and then went solo.
Her acting career took off only recently: all her projects after Disney, one after the other, were considered failures. However, later she was able to work with such masters as Woody Allen and Jim Jarmusch, and in 2021 the super-successful series Only Murders in the Building was released.
Now it's time for biopics – Selena will play the iconic singer Linda Ronstadt.
Who Is Linda Ronstadt?
Linda Ronstadt is a singer and songwriter who was hailed as the queen of pop-country in the early 1970s and was crowned the queen of rock after the death of Janis Joplin. She once toured with Neil Young, and her session musicians from those years later formed the band Eagles.
In the 1980s, Linda took a sudden turn in her career, performing on Broadway and recording several jazz and pop albums that became some of the most successful of her career.
Terrible Illness That Ended Linda’s Career
Linda's unforgettable voice made her one of the most recognizable singers in the world in the 1970s and 1980s. Such a unique gift is always very fragile, so it is no coincidence that voice problems became the first manifestation of her illness.
The singer admitted that problems with her voice began when she was about 50 years old – she began to feel as if her throat was constricted, as if she was having convulsions. Only in 2012, Linda heard a terrible diagnosis – Parkinson's disease.
In 2013, Linda announced the end of her musical career, as health problems no longer allowed her to perform. However, the singer did not feel the effect of the prescribed drugs from Parkinson's disease, and then she received a final, no less terrible diagnosis – progressive supranuclear palsy.
However, Linda Ronstadt did not give in to the disease and still tries to maintain the forms of activity available to her – she writes books and articles, and talks to people who suffer from serious illnesses like her.
According to Linda, she draws inspiration and strength from one of the world's most famous people living with Parkinson's disease – Michael J. Fox.
