Secret Invasion Fan Theory Teases an Unimaginable Plot Twist (And It Totally Makes Sense)

The premiere episode of Secret Invasion has got fans buzzing with excitement and wondering what's going to happen next.

A Reddit user shared an intriguing theory suggesting that the show is trying to mislead us. We are about to break it down for you.

Spoiler alert for Secret Invasion episode 1.

The theory poses one big question: Was it really Hill who got shot at the end of the episode?

If you remember, in the beginning of the episode, the Skrull who was impersonating Everett Ross reverted to its true form upon death. When Maria Hill was still bleeding out, the camera conveniently faded to black.

During the last 5–10 minutes of the episode, two different versions of Hill are presented to us, one with glasses and one without, according to the theory.

They repeatedly show Hill without her glasses, but we never witnessed her actually taking them off. And when she does have them on, the camera conveniently zooms in, obscuring her location.

Maybe the writers are subtly hinting that the glasses-less Hill might be a Skrull, and the theory suggests it was Talos' wife, Soren.

In the episode, we are told that she died. However, we never witnessed her death, nor her body.

Another interesting point of the theory is the bar scene. Why would Fury and Hill choose a bar as their meeting place instead of a secure base?

They were possibly followed by Skrull operatives. At first glance, their conversation appears casual, but could they be speaking in coded language?

Fury's mention of "hot" could imply they were being followed, while Hill's use of "back" might indicate someone following closely behind Fury. When Fury mentions "covering her bases," he could be warning against leading anyone back to their base.

Another popular theory is that Fury is faking his limp. Could he be doing this to trick potential impersonators? When Hill tells him to "check his footing," it could imply that she will verify his limp to identify the real Fury.

Interestingly, Gavik's lackey made a note of Fury's limp when reporting to him. So, Gavik would likely mimic the limp while impersonating Fury, and we will see it later on the show.
