Just why does this couple even work, again?

The Rose family is undoubtedly iconic and beloved by TV fans across the world who had the pleasure to accompany these snobs on their journey from entitlement to humanity for five years. However, if we really think about the duo of Johnny and Moira Rose, a few things don't quite fall in line.

Johnny is an intelligent and delicate man; in fact, he is probably the biggest TV gentleman. At the beginning, he was arguably the least entitled character who always tried to be polite with everybody and never wanted to hurt anyone's feelings.

We cannot say the same about the love of his life, Moira Rose. In fact, it's hard to realize what exactly Johnny sees in Moira that makes him so fond of her: after all, Moira is quite egotistic and at times unbearable. As a true soap opera actress, Moira tends to sometimes be overly dramatic — up to a point of throwing a tantrum when something goes not in the way she wants.

So how exactly do these two even work?

It's truly a mystery how a sweet and caring man like Johnny could fall for a woman like Moira, but Schitt's Creek fans believe that this is a paradox that keeps the show going. After all, their marriage does somehow work, even though their downfall was a perfect illustration for how they practically abandoned their kids, David and Alexis.

"They're two weirdos that happen to match up in so many ways. One thing about Johnny and Moira, they love each other through and through and they both allow each other to entirely be their weirdo selves," Redditor muaellebee concluded when mulling the secret behind this seemingly impossible relationship.

Another fan described Moira as "utterly ludicrous in a way that's fascinating and can be addictive" — which, to be honest, fits perfectly with Catherine O'Hara's character. As noted by other Redditors, people like Johnny Rose might find particular joy in "the role of rocklike support for a less-than-stable personality."

In fact, this is something that David might have inherited: after all, him and Patrick are pretty much a reflection of Johnny and Moira, with David being a diva and Patrick being that very "rocklike support".

The most important thing to remember is that such a scheme might work wonderfully in TV shows, but not so much in real life.
