Sarah Michelle Gellar Is Ready to Put Her Slaying Skills to Practice in Dexter Prequel
The bad guys are in danger once again.
Even though there are still more examples of flopped reboots and revivals, the industry is sticking with the format and trying to bring back the most iconic titles. So far, the Dexter prequel is one of the more promising projects, not only because of its large fan base but also because of the heavy involvement of original producer Clyde Phillips.
Another big thing that makes Dexter: Original Sin is its cast, which continues to expand and attract some of the best actors in the industry. The recent news that Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself is joining the show only proves the point.
Who Will Sarah Michelle Gellar Play in Dexter: Original Sin?
According to Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks, Sarah Michelle Gellar is another perfect addition to the cast of the Dexter prequel series.
“Sarah Michelle Gellar is a pop culture icon who perfectly rounds out our best-in-class cast featuring Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey among others. We’re thrilled to have her return to the Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios family and join the origin story of the Dexter franchise,” Diaz said.
Fans should be just as thrilled, as Gellar's appearance won't be brief. The actress will reprise her role as Tanya Martin, the CSI chief of the Miami Metro Police Department. Though she won't have to be as involved as Buffy, her vampire-slaying skills will still be put to good use against criminals.
Martin will also have to be careful with her newest employee, Dexter Morgan. The prequel will take viewers back in time to 15 years before the timeline of the original series began. Still young and green, but already as bloodthirsty as ever, Dexter will learn the intricacies of satisfying the darkness within him without hurting innocent people.
In addition to Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey, Gellar will be joined by Patrick Gibson as Dexter and Molly Brown as Debra Morgan. Dexter: Original Sin will be produced by Clyde Phillips, known to viewers for his work on the original series.
The prequel has been ordered by Paramount Plus and Showtime, so keep an eye out for more news and updates, including the premiere date, if you are interested in jumping back into the Dexter universe.
