His cameo was short, yet extremely hilarious.

Recognized as one of the best comedy shows of the last few years, What We Do in the Shadows is notorious for breaking the TV canon and intertwining its fictional world of vampires with reality in truly surprising ways.

These include numerous appearances of celebrities playing themselves in the series, and you may remember that there were star cameos of Paul Reubens, Tilda Swinton, Mark Hamill, and many other actors.

However, there was a WWDITS episode that displayed an unlikely, yet reasonable cameo of Sal Vulcano, a stand-up comedian best known as the lead of the Impractical Jokers comedy show.

When and How Did Sal Vulcano Appear in the Vampire Series?

Back in 2022, in the fifth episode of the fourth season of this mockumentary show, titled Private School, the characters are puzzled with the idea of sending Baby Colin to school.

Early in the episode, Laszlo, Nadja and Nandor are trying to understand how they can pass the interview with the headmaster of the local school, looking into options of who can pose as Colin’s parents.

Their plans are disrupted when they learn that the headmaster is extremely proud of the fact that there is a child of a famous actor studying there, so Nadja comes up with an idea to bring them a celebrity too.

What kind of actor can you find on Staten Island? Maybe Pete Davidson? No, as we already know, they choose Vulcano, the local comedian who can serve as an object of ridicule and humiliation for the vampires, just like in his famous show.

Vulcano, introduced as “that guy from Incomprehensible Jesters,” does agree, comes to their residence and tries his best to pretend to be Colin’s father.

However, he’s not destined to stay for long, as Laszlo gets tired of his jokes and then snaps his neck, killing him. Thus, Vulcano becomes quite useless as a person who can persuade the headmaster to choose Colin.

“A great & funny scene cut very short. Would’ve been cool to maybe see him become part of the crew. I was expecting all of them to walk in after Sal, but I was happy either way,” as voiced in Reddit’s discussion of this short-lived cameo.

You can now revise the episode where Vulcano appears, as What We Do in the Shadows is available on Hulu .
