Russo Brothers' James Gunn Update Takes Marvel vs. DC Debate to a Whole New Level
However, fans are not so sure about this decision.
Love them or hate them, there is no denying the impact the Russo brothers have had on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The directors have been behind the most popular, highest-grossing, and overall most iconic superhero films, such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
There have been some hits as well as some total misses in the eyes of fans, but the Russo brothers' success is by no means in question.
Another director, best known for his work on the MCU 's Guardians of the Galaxy, has made headlines with the breaking news of taking over the DC Cinematic Universe.
Ever since James Gunn secured his position in November 2022, the internet has been abuzz with theories about who will be cast in the new DCU movies and what the reboot would mean for Marvel.
While the actor's choices are usually the most interesting to the general public, as casting news always blows up all over the internet, they're not the only ones who are of great interest in this case.
Anyone who has ever worked with Marvel Studios in being watched by fans, ready to speculate.
The directing duo of the Russo brothers is in no way an exception, however, they have left no room for speculation with their commentary on the question.
In their interview with ComicBook.com, they were asked if they would agree to direct a movie for James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU reboot:
"Obviously James over there running it, it would be a no-brainer. We love him to death. We love the direction he's going to take that world in. You know he's gonna be inventive with it," Joe Russo admitted.
The competition between the two studios has become more prominent than ever, and fans are here for it, as it means more quality stories coming their way.
Many would love to see this movie come to life, but others feel that James Gunn should take a completely different approach.
Keep an eye out for more DCU news to see where the reboot would take the studio.
